I never heard of Cornell west during former President Bush's era or former President Bill Clinton's era.

and by certain "progessives" who have their personal issues with the current president. Cornel West is an internally conflicted, malcontent who has always had a grievance, built a lucrative career on the backs of poor less fortunate Blacks while pretending to care but not lifting a finger to actually help those communities. West is always looking to blame anyone else but himself, always projecting his own insecurities on others. Before Barack Obama it was the White man who was the cause of all ills in society.  Now that Barack Obama is president he insists that Obama can't possibly empathize with the plight of the Black community because of his half-white heritage. How does Mr. West explain Herman Cain's ideology using that logic?

Some progressives have now latched on to West because they he conveniently provides them racial cover for their disguised agenda towards the President. But when Barack Obama is no longer President, and West the malcontent returns to his "blame anyone but me" syndrome, will these progressives still have his back?

...that if they weren't out in the streets during the Bush era or the Clinton era or the Daddy Bush era or the Reagan era or the Carter era or whatever, that they shouldn't get their asses out in the streets (or the steps of the Supreme Court for that matter) now because maybe they didn't before?

This seems to me like a counterproductive stance for progressives interested in change to take.

I don't know what any of these 19 folks did or did not do during these previous eras, and quite frankly, I don't really care.

Why can't we just be happy that folks are out there actually doing something, and actually trying to make change happen?

Many of us have been avid fans of Cornel West's writings for tens of years.  He's been out there and we've been following him.
