    I did the same thing about 5 years ago preparatory to working on a 3-D graphics editor. About all I accomplished was that I found out that in the 30 or so years since textbooks started being published describing ways to handle 3-D objects from a 2-D screen, those ways had had walls of patents built up around them. The patent office has a bit of a problem discerning novelty from prior art when it comes to software. Which should not be patentable in the first place in my opinion. If they just had a subscription to the online database of papers maintained by the Association for Computing Machinery they would save themselves a lot of trouble. I guess the $200 a year or so that it costs is just too expensive for them, though. Also, they would have to find somebody who could read the papers, lol.

    Moderation in most things.
