    run by Horne and Hardhart.

    You stuck a nickel or dime in the slot next to the portion you wanted and it would open.  I remember them from the 50's.  Remember eating at one a couple of times off Fifth Avenue in the 40's, south of GCT.

    The thing is you could buy a cup with a teabag.  Back then folks could pay their nickel and go to the central island and squirt in ketchup from the free dispenser, add hot water (for tea, of course), and have a poor man's tomato soup. I forget whether milk was there too.

    Sadly, even this is now out of reach.

    Real plastic here; none of that new synthetic stuff made from chicken feathers. By the morning of 9/12/2001 the people of NYC had won the War on Terror.
