    Every time I try to duplicate my mom's recipe for mac and cheese it comes up short. Maybe it's the egg! I'll try it.
    She would also bake hers with a sprinkle of bread crumbs on top!  My mac and cheese sux! :(

      and mix it with the mac..

      2 tbs butter
      1-3 tbs of flour - rice is best
      milk/cream/h&h -  up to 1 cup
      chedder - as much as you can stand

      melt butter in sauce pan, when it turns foamy add flour and whisk... Once it has had a chance to start setting up, add dairy slowly a bit at a time while whisking...  

      Once you have added as much to make a semi-liquid, add the cheese to melt.  change over to a spoon and keep stirring.  Once the cheese has melted, see how thick it is and if you have enough for your mac..  Add more milk and cheese to get enough..

      probably because by the time she got it all stirred together we children were whining at jet-engine level and she wanted us to stuff it in our bleedin' pieholes.

      But you could try baking it!

      Still enjoying my stimulus package.
