of something that was lied about constantly before the invasion and after, on every one of those 1000 radio stations on a regular basis, probably with paid callers calling in to reinforce it.

that on stations with prominent positions in every major community because they are the loudest and broadcast university and pro sports, traffic, weather, farm reports, etc.

many of the major myths and lies used by the right to defeat progressives the last 20 years probably would not exist if the left had challenged the talk radio monopoly.

US universities contradict their mission statements and endorse climate denial, racism, sexism, and partisan lying by broadcasting sports on Limbaugh radio stations.

    •  The left challenged it. See Pacifica and Dem Now! (0+ / 0-)

That's what those stations came out of. I'm sure other approaches were tried. It just wasn't enough to overcome the effects of deregulation and the legalisation of lying by media.

      •  there's no way to challenge it with 'market' solut (0+ / 0-)

solutions- it's a well entrenched monopoly.

and global warming won't wait for legislation.

those radio stations' local sponsors and the universities that broadcast sports on them need to be shamed until the stations and their owners have to decide if they're going to go broke, or offer balance, or fire limbaugh, or switch formats.

then maybe the right will subsidize some of them but it needs to happen- especially the universities getting out.
