    The hormones that regulate the monthly cycle also regulate the sex drive, and can also affect lubrication making sex either very uncomfortable or downright painful. If it's really a concern, she could talk to her doctor or gynecologist about it; for the lubrication issue just toss a small bottle of KY or Astroglide in your shopping basket next time you're at the drugstore.

    A good book on the subject is The Pause by Lonnie Barbach -- it was recommended to me (by a fellow Kossack, in fact) a few years ago when I started noticing some of the symptoms of perimenopause. My spouse read it as well and found it very educational.
