  •  In my area, the Tea Party endorsed the Minute Men (7+ / 0-)

who are a well known racist hate group. They came out and marched with them and screamed racist epithets at people in my area on May 1st and on Cesar Chavez day, at the marches. I have personally been screamed at by Tea Party members standing with Minute Men despite being Jewish (they are really smart like that). I think that allying with them in any way could result in similar defection from what is, at present, a fairly thriving movement. I don't know that the people who I know who are supporting OWS and attending marches would keep doing so IF the Tea Party was "invited" or whatnot. It would also reduce the chances of more involvement in general from POC. They may be economic populists but they certainly have a habit of turning out to shout hateful things at Latinos and tend to hold ugly views about non-white people.

I'm just wary about this one.
