Finns did well in the Winter War in 1939, but subsequently ceded 11% of their land area to Russia in the Continuation War (1941-44). The USSR occupied the Porkkala Peninsula on the southern coast right until 1956. Also before Finland was part of Russia, it was part of Sweden for hundreds of years. Many Finns are descended from Vikings. Anyway, when it comes to killing, why short-change the Americans? Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended over 200,000 lives, including civilians, with just a couple bombs.
