  •  Yes. Disallow baking soda and vinegar volcanoes!! (7+ / 0-)

Might teach the kids that capping said volcano might cause an "overpressure".

Might want to erase chemistry from the school books too.

Oh, and paintball guns should be banned (an overpressure device).

And spray paint (an overpressure device).

C'mon, let's not get all FOX Newsy "What's Next, Exploding Cows!?!?"  (seriously, that was one of their worst potential terror scare stories).

This isn't a fire/explosive/chemical bomb by any stretch of the imagination.  Those are used on Iraqis.  This was an oversized, potentially dangerous, noise maker.

    •  I don't know what it was, neither (5+ / 0-)

did the people who where sleeping at 4 am. That sounds terrifying. An act can be terrorism even if people are not physically hurt.

      •  Agreed. It makes a very loud bang, and scares the (8+ / 0-)

crap out of you if you're near one without knowledge of it going off (hence, teens screw around with these as pranks).

If anyone is curious, youtube has hundreds of videos of kids popping gatorade bottles, 2 liters, 3 liters, etc.  Probably a good thing to learn about if you have a son going into his teens.  While these devices won't get him killed, they could potentially get him and/or you arrested if he or his friends pay enough attention to elementary science classes.

Regarding your terrorism comment, however...  Sure, you can call it terrorism if you want.  Some dumbass wanted to scare the crap out of you at 4 in the morning.  However, don't.  Don't call it terrorism.  It makes the word lose it's meaning.  Let's reserve it for certain occasions where people actually get hurt or badly injured, or when the intent was clearly to kill or injure.

      •  Might also damage (2+ / 0-)

hearing irreparably.  Or cause something else to fly forcefully into another's eye, with predictable results.
