  •  What makes you think most elected Democrats (4+ / 0-)

are sympathetic to the OWS movement? They are, for the most part, part of the PROBLEM that OWS is rallying against, not the solution.

The central point of the Occupy movement is that the American political SYSTEM is broken. I wouldn't expect very many people within the system to rally to the cause.

Some men aren't looking for anything logical. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

supporting OWS is sort of like the Buddhist idea that it is perfectly okay to be both a Buddhist and a Christian at the same time (not that most Christians would agree - I think?)
At this very moment, I am not happy with most of my elected representatives, of either stripe.  I am happier with what OWS is saying - that we've had ENOUGH.
Some fracking genius was after me in another thread - demanding that I compare and contrast the differences between Egyptian rebellion and US rebellion - and went on to tell me that the Occupy's are all for a "fantasy revolution" that he thinks is all in our heads, and that leftist movements never accomplish anything.  He also appeared to be a Tea Party supporter.
I asked him if he was open to new ideas - but also told him I wouldn't touch his turd-pile of Tea in any case.

the system. Occupiers work to change the system into something else. An elected official can't be both.

I haven't had a series of failures, I have just found a thousand ways not to make an electrical light bulb.
We have found a lot of ways not to have good government.  I hope we can learn from the lessons of history, instead of continually repeating them.
This is the basis for Technology.  Give a lazy man a difficult task, and he will find an easier way to do it.
