You might also say that the majority of people don't care about either of them.

    •  Exactly. This poll is bad news. (2+ / 0-)

Using the Tea Party as a comparison is setting a very low bar.

Given how many people are fed up with this economy, OWS should be showing much more than 50% support, not 37%.

People involved in OWS need to have a tough conversation about what they are doing wrong, and what they need to do differently. Granted it is probably out of their control. OWS doesn't own any media conglomerates. But 56% saying they "don't support" is not a good number.

      •  Or to make an even more unpopular analysis. (0+ / 0-)

Most people view both groups as the extreme fringe of opposing sides of the political spectrum.

      •  It may be better than you think, though. (4+ / 0-)

Supporting OWS and supporting it's complaints are not quite the same thing.

In the more conservative parts of the country, I'll bet a fair number of people support the latter but not the former.

Though it follows a time-honored American tradition of public expression, there is something unsettling to many about a bunch of scruffy folks pitching tents, etc in public spaces just so they can shout about what's wrong with the country.

Good thing for the rest of us that the founders sought life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, not the pursuit of being unruffled.

    •  Another way, Tea Party votes, OWS don't (0+ / 0-)

There's 8% more support for OWS among all adults as there is among registered voters.  Republicans win elections not because people believe in their policies, but because those who do actually get out and vote, where Dem supporters sit on their ASSES and don't vote!
