  •  If she was there in 1934 maybe she & Everett Ruess (4+ / 0-)

    crossed paths. He was just 20 years old, and a writer, painter and vagabond for beauty who spent his last days in civilization in Escalante in November 1934 before heading down the Hole in the Rock Road and disappearing forever.

    His last camp was in Davis Gulch, just a few miles from the end of the road at Hole in the Rock. His mules were found there in March 1935, but Everett was gone.

    Some of us have spent some time in that area, looking for Everett. We haven't found his bones, but his spirit's there.

    "Somewhere he's off,
    wanderin' loose;
    Whatever happened
    to Everett Ruess?"
