    The point of the first part is to get the person to recognize equality by getting them to think about the ideas that are normally summed up in a phrase.  The more you can unpack assumptions and get people to think about what the words mean, the greater the likelihood of success.

    The point of the second part is to make a logically incontrovertible case for equality on the basis of a) genes and b) who gets to choose.  

    I have yet to find anyone who can argue that a) persons with unusual gender chromosome combinations do not deserve equal rights, or that b) they do not deserve the right as adults to exercise their own will as regards their gender assignments, on an equal footing with the will of their parents or pediatricians (by analogy, the right to change the name that one was given by one's parents, e.g. a hippy couple name their kid Moon Flower but the kid wants to be an investment banker and changes his name to Bob or whatever).  Now once you have someone willing to go there, it's a short step from that to the right of any adult to exercise their own will as regards their gender.  

    This isn't about "later later."  This is about "logically compelling right now."  

    "Minus one vote for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.

      You haven't seen the DSM-5 have you? It argues exactly that - that Intersex people who wish to transition have "gender dysphoria", a mental illness, and should be treated as such. That no, they do not have rights on an equal footing. That is merely putting into words what is already the practice.

      Then of course there's the religious arguments. That they know your "real" sex, and you don't.

      Meanwhile, Woods vs CG Studios is precedent for denying Intersex people employment. Because that right only applies to men and women, not those who are Intersex. It is specifically allowable to fire someone for having been surgically assigned a sex shortly after birth.

      Schroer vs Library of Congress is a powerful argument against that for Transitioners, but doesn't cover Intersex people who don't transition.
