Judy is in town between work in HI on the non-profit she and Obama's sister are heading up. She won't be heading up AlamObama this time around but wanted to get us together to figure out a plan for how to focus the energy this time around. It'll be quite a different experience than '08.

I did tell her you are still quite the organizer via the internets....:D

I think it will be a much more Democratic effort and will be done through the Democratic Party in San Antonio. Or, am I wrong? I figured lots of independents are just plain old frustrated... will vote, for the most part, but probably not willing to put in the same volunteer hours as we did in 2008. And Alamobama was a lot of independent thinkers, people who felt very disenfranchised by the local party.

It's a nice feeling to know I'm still talked about in a nice way in San Antonio :)

I saw some back and forths about some MoveOn members out in New Braunfels taking supplies to Occupy San Antonio. Haven't heard much more than that. I hope the movement is holding it's own. I imagine it's a tough place to Occupy.

they are hunkered down in Hemisfair park and the city council I imagine is OK with them. I tried to get down to one of their marches earlier in Oct but got downtown late and stuck in traffic...and saw the procession escorted by police as they made their way to the Alamo. So, my guess is that as long as they follow the city rules, they'll have ok relationship with the SAPD. I sent them some of our lessons learned re setting up stuff and having sound equipment but otherwise haven't been involved locally although I would like to.

I think AlamObama still wants to stay independent and yes we touched on the independence of the origial group. I did not know that the old HQ was made available to the group from a disaffected GOPer...but I got the impression that won't be happening again.

I don't think there will be the same passion - he's not the exciting outsider anymore and "Change" seems a hollow hope now....but still, the option of having one of the GOP freak show contestants sitting in the Oval Office is too terrifying to keep us at home.  Fired up - ready to go! I hope we can send enough decent progressives to the House and Senate to get some good legislation passed. The current crop is just horrible. Worst. Congress. EVER.
