OWS is not marching because of the bailout, as your Tea Party friend asserts. The bailout is just once facet, one example, one manifestation of the rotten system we oppose.  Your friend is criticizing by taking the name literally.

The protest is not against the firms with an address on Wall Street.  The protest is called Occupy Wall Street but it is taking place in cities ecverywhere.  What more prrof does your friend need to see Wall Street is a metaphor?

These protests are taking place where the protesters live.  But their message is aimed everywhere it needs to be aimed. And yeah, that means it is aimed directly at the White House, Congress, and the Supreme Court.

even if the marches are occouring on Wall and Main Streets and not Pennsylvania Avenue.

too many things for a single exchange to address!

But, starting with the agreement on the bailout facet, I was able to talk about income inequality, and the screwing of the middle and lower-income classes, and the buying of our government by the wealthiest of the wealthy, and tie those to the protest as well.

It's a start, and it's so important to be having conversations that make a start.

I ran into an old friend / coworker at one of the recall petition drives. our ability to communicate was nil, and we were standing next to one another.  So what can you do over Facebook?  My criticism was over-the-top.

It is very good though to keep the communication open.  that is what will start teh healing, after the dam burst. (As one day it must.)
