    always ate Christmas ham with the family. and went to mass with the family once a year, on Christmas Eve.

    His wife, my aunt (RIP), was a devout Catholic, and the kids were raised Catholic (though one married a Jewish man). I don't see how it could have worked if he'd been an observant Jew, as so much of Jewish ritual involves family and the home.

    The marriage shocked both families at the time, but was the strongest, healthiest marriage I've yet to see. They were so perfect together. We miss my aunt terribly, and my uncle is lost without her.

    He actually has a fair bit of loyalty to her parish church, because it was important to her, and he donated money for a new hall at the school there dedicated in her name.
