    I disagree with whoever said the movie Elizabeth was an ahistorical movie.  A friend of mine said that about 20 years of history was collapsed by movie magic into a seemingly shorter period of time...I can agree with that: I've read much more about her reign since I watched the film.

    And I agree with MT Spaces -- I think she was a much more savvy & brilliant king than her father.  Ruthless?  I wouldn't necessarily go there...except, when there are several groups trying to assassinate you, maybe you are less tolerant.  And yet: she DID end the religious wars.  And brought the Renaissance to England.

    She supported the arts!  (Better not say anything bad about the Tudors, but still...)  She was arguably more liberal in her policies than any teabagger today.  LOL!
