    •  There is quite a group, I realize (5+ / 0-)

since they were instrumental, I believe, in getting the OWS started in the first place. And they have global support. They like OWS do not have "leaders" but act on consensus if I understand it correctly, I am wondering how they wiggled their fingers on irc chats!

I am concerned, however, that people think that they will be like superman and swoop in and save us. I think that is too much to ask. I also think that they are just as susceptible to "rogue" stuff (like cops infiltrating) which can really skew the perceptions.

They're more like DKos (a loosely-aligned collection of independent individuals with generally-compatible ideas) than OWS (a collectivist quasi-organization). This is actually one of their strengths when it comes to possible infiltration - each Anon considers him/herself independently responsible for the actions s/he chooses to engage in.

(One does, of course, have to define "infiltration." Not all involvement of law enforcement/government personnel, for instance, is "infiltration." Imagine if, hypothetically, some person employed in a field like...let's say cryptography...happened to have an interest in e.g. computer security. And international politics.

Which, by the way, is a good reason to be aware that these guys are not savior-figures.)
