Domino's in this request, as well as Pizza Hut.

    •  Why those two? Have they been bad? If they have (1+ / 0-)

I'll start telling the folks that send pizzas to my local Occupy to scratch them off the list.
I guess the best choice would be local, family operated pizzarias.

should be patronized, both from the standpoint of one to one solidarity and strikes against large corporations.

Pizza Hut:  Several yrs ago in a take out pizza a franchise in upstate NY included a piece of bone.  Husband bit into it and 1/4 of a tooth chipped away.  Next morning he was in the dentist's chair.  After $30 xray and $25. check up and grinding of rough edges the bill was presented to the local restaurant (which had been called first thing the next day).  They denied it had happened, turned it over to their insurance co, which of course denied having to cover it.  It wasn't enough to even go after them in small claims court, and our dental insurance paid half.  So after blowing us off over $25-50. they earned bad will, and no pizzas from us ever (we were going 2X a month) plus a vow to let anyone and everyone know of their irresponsibility.  It could have been much more serious.
Dominio's has long been the bastion of right wing franchise and corporate owners.  For a while they encouraged their delivery drivers to drive recklessly to get orders to customers, so that they could serve more per hour and beat competitors in delivery speed.  They also funded anti-abortion groups liberally (Operation Rescue, etc).  The local owner here, ran and lost to be the congressional rep from the Tea Party faction of the Republicans.  Plus the pizzas aren't good at all!  Poor ingredients.  The far right wing stuff has been officially off the table for several years now, but it still attracts the same types - they are just quieter about it now.

Google both chains - you'll undoubtedly find lots of similar and worse horror stories.

Almost every area has a pizza blog with ratings, etc.   The coupons from the chains are nice, but remember they come at the price of cost cutting of ingredients and labor.
