but my goal in politics is not to please constituents in districts we do not live in. It is to advance my liberal goals. I support liberals before I support Democrats. If a Democrat has to be THAT conservative to win, why are we trying? Some parts of the country should not be voting for Democrats. I get a lot of flack for asserting that, but they show me no evidence why they SHOULD be voting Democratic.

Besides, Palazzo will still provide tons of pork to his constituents, so don't worry about them.

but I care about blacks in the Deep South.  I want them to have a rep who'll care about them and at least occasionally make a good vote for them.

I changed by not changing at all, small town predicts my fate, perhaps that's what no one wants to see. -6.38, -4.15

well, Taylor didn't really do that. He voted against every major Democratic Party objective, down to voting against unemployment benefits.

What exactly makes you think he cared so much about his black constituents? I never saw him appear with them, or talk about them. Katrina? Yeah, a Republican in that seat would have cared about their constituents just as much.

Jo Bonner and Jeff Miller had conniptions when Joe Barton apologized to BP.
