  •  ok, this is too far (0+ / 0-)

History would have been better if the votes in Florida were counted.  History would have been better if democrats didn't capitulate.   But wishing for a man's death?  You only have the moral highground until you give it away.

As to the broader issue, who gives a shit if Goldman meets with Bush.  There's no basis to arrest him (not without an warrant or reason to believe he's actively committing a crime), and of all the things Goldman does taking a meeting with an ex-President is about the least consequential.

There's a case he should be prosecuted.  There's a better case it would be bad for the country, a distraction, and might not even be successful based on certain "specific intent" language in the anti-torture statute.  It's annoying to see him at Texas Rangers games, but as long as he's more or less out of the public spotlight, I'm past the 8 years I spent hating that guy.

      •  First of all, you didn't say please (0+ / 0-)

second of all, as I once had a comment HR'd for a joke about JFK, Jr., I have come to respect the community verdict about tasteless comments regarding small airplanes.  The world would not have been better if Dubya died; only if the political and judicial system played out differently.  I'm not backing down from that.  Care to explain how you'd like to respond to the next Palin cross-hairs ad?  Only current and future candidates are inappropriate targets for wishing for their death? Please.

Free speech only has to do with government restraints.  Too bad you can't HR the openly and notoriously stupid.  I don't quite know how the algorithms work, but three recs (and what is with you people) offsets my donut, so the comment is unhidden.   You can feel justifiable pride that you've managed, for this comment at least, to achieve your goal of dragging the site into the gutter.  I'm not under any obligation, however, to agree with you three or the initial commenter.
