and all too many "centrist" Dems from liberals and progressives is that the former basically view politics as a self-enriching career while the latter basically view it as a society-bettering calling. One also sees this in the work world, between people who are in it for them, and people who are in it for some higher purpose.

The former are dicks, the latter not.

Btw, viewing work as a higher calling doesn't necessarily mean being poor and miserable. That's yet another vile conservative myth.

I was taught that honest work, no matter what it may be, is honorable.  Whether one worked in an office, or as a police officer, construction worker, ditch digger, hamburger flipper, etc., if you did your work with honesty and integrity and gave it 100% of your effort, that was to be respected and honored.

Over the last 30 years, we have been pelted with the propaganda that unless you're living large, your not worthy, or as Herman Cain says, "blame yourself."  I call bullshit.

The denigration of labor and honest work, the failure of wages to keep up with inflation, together with the "catapulting of the propaganda" that if you don't have a BMW in the driveway, you ain't worth shit, have essentially, IMHO, created a "battered worker syndrome" whereby people actually start believing this crap.  With the advent of OWS, people are beginning to break away from their abusers.

What the 1% fails to understand is that for many of us, money isn't the end all and be all.  We live with the dignity of honorable work, and in the end, we are scrappers and survivors.  How many of the 1%, if they lost it all tomorrow, would be able to cope?  They won't be able to, that's why we will win in the end, because we understand endurance and perseverance and realizing that it doesn't always come easy.

Stay strong, my brothers and sisters.

And should be rewarded with honest pay. Not many people would argue with that if presented to them thusly. Unfortunately, it's not. Instead, we've been brainwashed into believing that you're as good as how much you're worth.

Ambition is good. Hard work is good. Being justly rewarded is good.

        Greed is NOT good.
