    in any society, but I know it's been used to depict Jews as greedy. Haters gonna hate.

      But you can't just wish away two millennia of antisemitism (which are, frankly, grounded in elements of the original story in the gospels).  

      This is the sort of thing that comes up with many texts that have patently discriminatory aspects to them.  Disney's Song of the South has a lot of delightful songs in it. But it's rightly seen as racially offensive and we thus don't tend to promote it.  

      Dismissing fair criticism by saying "haters gonna hate" just doesn't cut it.

        So, you're concerned that the Gospels are irredeemably antisemitic, and that they should be dismissed in the same fashion as a 60-yr old "racially offensive" Disney feature.

        I can appreciate that a cartoon that didn't mention Jews or Judaism made you uncomfortable because of what you read into it, but this might not be the best way to open a Jewish-Christian dialogue.
