  •  Ah, religion (none)
The great uniter of man... against his fellow man.

How pleased I was yesterday to find my 9 and 11 year old daughters watching Monty Python's "Holy Grail" and chanting along with the monks as they hit themselves in the forehead with DVD cases (as instructed in the film). I told them that the little pain they felt now was nothing compared to tidal wave of agony inflicted on mankind by these man-made institutions. They really seemed to get it. Then I told them the strange irony was that those who truly follow the teachings and intentions of Moses, Christ, the Buddha or Mohammed would never harm others without a valid reason - for instance, to save the life of someone else. And they seemed to get that too! Hey, a teachable moment (gag!), but it was great.

    Dominae es requiem - SLAP!

    •  I think the monks are actually saying (none)
"Dona eis requiem" -- "Give them rest"

And some humor for latin lovers that I learned in high school...

      O, Sibylli, si ergo
      Fortibus es in ero.
      O nobili, themis trux.
      Vatis inem?  Causan dux.

It makes more sense if you read it out loud than if you translate it...
