to not have been sexually harassed at work, although my boss used to have a habit of making inappropriate comments. No one worried about it--if you knew him, you'd probably understand. He's just utterly naive, and I think he felt familiar enough with everyone that he forgot he was the boss and was supposed to be more careful. Some of what he said was accidental, in that it came out sounding worse than he'd meant it. He just didn't think, really. He's stopped these days, and I'm not sure if it's because we don't have many get-togethers now or because he had a minor stroke...or maybe someone even said something.

Anyway, my workplace has a very mouthy lawyer who'd make life hell for anyone who did the wrong thing. I wouldn't want to cross her. Of course, we have faculty--powerful types--who I know can get away with more than the regular folk. But it's probably more general nastiness than sexual. Politics, backstabbing, ripping everyone a new one...I was told one guy threw a paperweight at his admin. She didn't complain because "it didn't hit her."

Of course, I've had to deal with unpleasant people at various points...being scared to go to school because of a couple guys who'd make ugly remarks about me and whap me upside the head as they walked into class...
