...guilt vs. love last night.  Unfortunately, guilt is too often my motivation for achieving work.  I pray almost every night and last night was praying for power to accomplish tasks that I have been terribly bad about procrastinating on and was feeling very guilty about not accomplishing.  It then struck me that guilt should not be a motivating force but love.  Love for those we are working for, love for the skill that we possess and use to accomplish work, love in the sense of accomplishment upon completion should be motivation instead of guilt.   I think guilt is instilled in too many Christians and it detracts from the message of Jesus, which is love.

I've never heard that quote before so I don't know if it's still part of teachings.  I hope not as it is pretty grim.  My favorite anecdote of the story of Eve is a comedy skit I heard in which Cain approaches his parents after hearing about Garden of Eden and says "You mean we could have been living in paradise and you two blew it!"
Oh well. The way I look at it, Jesus came and paradise can be ours again so what's done is done.  No need to pass out blame.  Isn't it great we get second chance.
