  •  Come on. The competition is for talent. (0+ / 0-)

We are competing against companies in Canada for very skilled employees who are already skilled and trained. The companies that get these employees has a big advantage in the marketplace because they will be able to bring new technologies faster and better.

And access to skilled immigrants brings jobs to native programmers. When my company wins a new project or makes a new hit technology it means expansion. It is a win win.

The technology industry is in a race for talent. The more people I have to work with, the better off I am as a programmer.

The people who come here aren't my competition, they are my co-workers. It is the people who don't come here who are my competition.

And in your idea of a good work environment where we keep talented programmers from coming here.... who is going to do the training?
