You mention the story about a girl from rural Vermont who goes to the mills in Lowell MA.

I must say that I visited the mills there a few years ago and the living museum was the MOST DEPRESSING place I have ever been. It is excellent, in that it portrays exactly how horrible working in a mill was, and what it did to the fabric of the community and the region.

Absolutely a worth while experience. I haven't been to the Holocaust museum, but I imagine there is much they share in terms of the impact on the visitor.
