While I agree the Progressive Politicians, with the exception of a few like Elizabeth Warren, have been most noted by their absence and non-alignment; the Occupy Movement has not lent itself to alignment.
It has purposely made itself a representative of the 99% and has not narrowed its focus down to a few salient points.
I believe this is something the Movement should continue, as by doing so it cannot be co-opted by others, which includes Politicians. The negative side of this is it makes it dangerous for an elected official to align or outright support the movement because it espouses so many disparate demands and some of the most controversial could be used by opponents come election time.
That being said, there is no reason anyone in power should not be speaking out concerning the blatant abuse of our First Amendment Rights. The significant erosion of these rights should be addressed immediately and strongly.
I, for one, look in askance at any representative of the people who has not condemned these violations.

Where is the Governor. To the best of my knowledge, he has said nothing.  You think he would be either supporting or condemming the  Mayor but this silence is deafaning!

a long habit of not thinking a thing WRONG, gives it a superficial appearance of being RIGHT, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom.
