is that most people aren't child molesters, and most parents won't allow their children to be molested. It's biological selfishness, plain and simple. Parents are trying to ensure that the genes they've successfully passed on to their children are successfully passed on to future generations. That won't happen if your kid gets horribly screwed up by some sick bastard.

Nobody cared about these kids, so nobody did anything. That's how this shit always works. The kids are helpless and they know it. They want out but have no escape. Everyone else is too caught up in their own struggles to be bothered to care about these random kids stuck with abusive families or no family at all. Pedophiles target such kids aggressively.

People need to understand the power of the human sex drive. The primary reason men go to work every day is sex. The reason that women shave their legs every day is sex. People do ridiculous absurd things in the hope of achieving their sexual goals, however uncomfortable we are discussing the issue. Is it not logical that those who are sick enough to desire sex with children will strive to achieve positions of power and wealth which allow them to realize their sexual goals?

None of this should surprise anyone, people are highly motivated by their sex drive. Those who cannot easily satisfy needs will go to great lengths to find a way to make it happen. The deviant among us will construct elaborate ploys to entrap their victims. We should not be surprised. We should expect it. But we don't, because it's just my problem, man.

molested. It's "normal". (expected, part of who... we? men? are.)

Well, as a way forward, that's extremely unsatisfying.

The workings of sex offenders is another diary, but I believe sex offenders are made not born in large part. I'd really like to hear a long interview with Jerry Sandusky about how he got into being sexual with children but we won't hear that part.

We need to detect, study, understand, treat, restrain sex offenders. Not just accept it as part of the human condition.

Also, as I keep saying... there are typically reports than males have about 20 to 40% female perpetrators. Google it.

      •  A predictable response. (0+ / 0-)

Try reading this and understand that this was all completely acceptable according to the accepted scientific understanding of the time.

We have a long way to go in understanding sexuality. It's fucking obvious to me but the resistance to reality is stubborn. Realism isn't fatalism, dude. It's just the way it is.

We need to detect, study, understand, treat, restrain sex offenders. Not just accept it as part of the human condition.

When did I say to accept anti-social behavior? I said we need to understand it, and you seem afraid to do so. You're part of the problem.

        •  No. It's reality. (0+ / 0-)

It's sometimes motivated by sadism, sometimes by sex. Perhaps it could a combination of those factors. Like most human behaviors it's complex.

I'm sorry if this bothers you, but I'm simply trying to attack this problem in a rational way. You seem to prefer to take an emotional response. I doubt emotional reaction will prove to be effective. People have been having emotional reactions to the actions of people like Sandusky since I can remember, and yet still such things happen. And always the same way.

      •  Not always. (0+ / 0-)

It's just not that simple. If you want to stop/reduce this sort of thing, then you must understand it. It's not an easy thing to do, but it has to happen, or more kids will suffer.
