You shouldn't have to give up ANYTHING to have single-payer health care because it would save a ton of money.  It's a lie told by the insurance industry that it would cost more.

We are already giving a lot up in order to not have single-payer health care.  We're spending 17% of GDP for mediocre service.  We're spending about 9% of GDP for the federally-paid portion (Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, etc.), which is about what the UK spends on everything with its NHS, and then another 8% and rising for the private portion.

So I want more trains.  I want better education.  And I want universal health care coverage.  And a lower deficit, without higher taxes.  And we can have it all, if we take away the 3-4% of GDP being wasted by our ridiculously inefficient health care system.
