  •  Why is global warming something to (7+ / 0-)

    "believe" in anyways?

It would seem like other well-established facts (like mathematics (2+2=4) or the evilness of Canadians (two words: Celine Dion)) it's just something that one accepts to be true with no "belief" required.

Whenever one is predicting the future, there has to be a component of belief. Now believing the sun will rise each morning is easy as that has been shown to happen over and over and most people can understand the rotation of the earth. Trying to explain that the Earth will warm in levels that it has not done before is a very different story and the vast majority of people do not understand something as complex as the Earth's climate. Scientists don't understand it fully, either.
Now compare that to the Ozone hole - that was something people could see and it was easy to grasp - thus that problem got addressed. That's the difference.

        the future.

Its foundation is seen by looking at the historical record . . . .

And about science not understanding it fully, well they don't fully understand cancer either.   Yet who denies that cancer exists?
