      What Makana did was indeed Aloha, in the largest sense of the word.

      It was also 'theater' but then again he is the hired entertainment, so stands to reason. And it was APEC, so I suppose it was political theater by definition. Couldn't say about 'popular' given the crowd but I will say it was as courageous as any I've seen who use musical instruments and their voices as their weapons of choice.

      Occupy with Aloha is the specific message, it was written boldly on his T. He did that, imho.

        As a non-Hawaiian who spent ten years as a doctor in Hawaii I am not qualified to define Aloha. But our West Kauai choir was known for a song written by one of the locals and entitled "The Power of Aloha". Aloha is more than using the right fork at dinner and is something that can be part of all aspects of life, including political theater.
