  •  local bank here continues to refuse to release (11+ / 0-)

details of my mother's account and to substantiate large fees they claim her estate owes.  To date, they have demanded multiple documents such as death certificates and probate court orders and have filed a claim with the probate court but continue to ignore my requests for copies of her statements

    •  Talk to the county clerks office for input and... (5+ / 0-)

potential assistance on how to proceed.

There should be some mechanisms in place to allow them to help provide some direction for issues like this that come up.
If they are not immediately helpful in volunteering info, press onward and ask them what they might suggest again or ask for someone else who might be able to provide more assistance. If your clerks office is somewhat resistant (they should not be), try calling a few other county local gov numbers and make some inquiry(s) for suggestions on who you 'should' be talking to.

so I haven't had any of these issues.  Most everything is done and this is the last little bit.  Not an issue.  I really don't care about a few months of fees until I can close it.  Dealing with closing it now and somehow covering anything I might have missed is a lot more of an issue.
