  •  I don't think Gabby Giffords will be able to (9+ / 0-)

run for re-election. Her powers of speech haven't recovered. She can't make sentences.

I'd like her too, but it's just not gonna happen, unless she gets better, as she's hoping.

Thanks for nothing, Jared Loughner, you psycho.

That's 6 1/2 months from now.  She was shot 11 months ago.  If you look at where she was in February, to where she is now, 6 1/2 more months is a lot of further recovery time.  That said, if she were to plateau at this level, I would agree.  She's not there yet.

I just hope most of all that people allow her to make the decision that's best for her health and for her constituents.  Sometimes I feel like people see her first and foremost as an easy way to keep a blue seat.  She's not an election strategy, she's a person.

run for reelection without having fully recovered his speech capabilities?

giving a pretty good speech some time after his stroke where he said something along the lines of: My speech is slow, but my mind is strong.  It seemed to put to rest the doubts over his capabilities as senator.  Giffords still has a long way to go, but from what I've read her cognitive abilities are returning faster than her speech is (not unusual for brain injuries) and so I think people will cut her slack if it's clear she understands how to do her job, but just struggles with the words.

    •  I believe Gabby's strength and courage... (1+ / 0-)
