  •  It may be time to revisit the site creed (21+ / 0-)

about "electing more and better Democrats"...

...and consider dropping the words more and from it.

Because "more" hasn't been more of anything but disappointment.

    •  I've said this all along. Kos had one plan for (0+ / 0-)

this blog, and the most active posters here have veered off in another direction. I don't see this blog as a place to elect
any Democrats any longer, let alone "more and better" ones.

People here are giving up on voting entirely and going to the streets only. Dems are all corrupt "from the get-go."

So yes: what does Kos want now and what does the majority of the posters want and where do we go from here.

        Not yet.

Peacing out of peaceful protest is one thing, but if it turns out that the national Dem leaders have become active hindrances to OWS, that's going to be a problem. For them.

I think our party leaders should reflect on the simple truth that under current election laws, dollar bills don't vote. Neither do incorporated legal entities.

It still takes human beings, flesh and real, to do that thing.

        •  Good. That makes two of us. (0+ / 0-)

          But you say, "Not yet."

I don't intend to ever give up on voting. Too many important
people and causes on too many ballots.

When sufficient portions of the population perceive that they are represented.

When people feel blown off, past a certain point they blow up. Even if they just shout and stamp and go away, that's a loss to someone.

And last I checked, it's not Repubs who will suffer if OWS supporters walk.

I'm saying it's an existential threat to the party that Dem leaders should care about. If they don't... it raises the question if there should be a Democratic Party at all, on grounds of political malpractice.

My appeal to the blue team to remember it's the people's team.. because the Repubs called dibs on being the 1%'s team and they aren't about to give up that role.

            •  You're a lot closer to giving up on the Dems (0+ / 0-)

than I am. We'll just agree to disagree. That's cool.

Part of that is defending choices, sometimes abstaining from bad ones.

                •  The Democratic Party has been around since (0+ / 0-)

Jefferson in all kinds of permutations, and I definitely support it. OWS-style movements have been around too, but they change frequently and permutate much, much faster.
We don't know what this movement will look like in a month, six months, a year, the long haul. We've had populist movements on the left, and this would be one of them.

I support BOTH: I don't need to choose the Democratic Party OR OWS at the exclusion of the other. Both movements have their uses. Again, it's not EITHER/0R with me.  And if the OWS doesn't gain and keep allies and sympathy for its cause then it will wither much faster than otherwise.  Enough said.
At my age I start repeating myself.

    •  I was thinking this morning, what's happened to (5+ / 0-)

the progressive Dems?  Franken, Sherrod Brown, a very small etc.?  The only Senator who seems to be speaking out for the people and progressive policies is Bernie Sanders and he's not a Dem!  I'm also thinking I'll write him in in 2012 for President.
