  •  I sent a note to the Office of Professional (17+ / 0-)

Accountability at the Seattle Police Dept about this incident and they at least had the decency to reply. They promised to send the reports and the videos to the investigative group and my note to the Police Chief.

I saw that the pepper spraying of a 84 year old protestor, Dorli Rainey, along with Rev Lang and a pregnant women made it to Yahoo Front Page news.

I also wrote several of the council members and asked that they conduct an official review of the incident. I just can't see the reasoning behind why all these officers would have to pepper spray Rev Lang when he was strictly acting in a peace maker role. Perhaps, he prevented the officers from really wreaking havoc on the crowd and were expressing their frustrations? Who know- maybe we're just trying to keep up with other cities for examples of police acting like cowards and bullys.

The Occupy movement is powerful, not because it is fighting for the rights of a few hundred people to sleep outdoors, but because it is fighting for the right of millions of Americans to sleep indoors. - Van Jones

    •  There was no excuse for this (11+ / 0-)

From the news footage, it looks like some cops went on the attack for no apparent reason. Its good that you let the right people in Seattle know that you are paying attention and demand accountability.

OWS has infiltrated the various city police dept.s and is, in uniform, successfully committing very telegenic acts of criminal violence against the most innocent and appealing of victims. This gains huge support for the movement and forces the rest of the populace, cops included, to really consider which side they are on.  They have committed brave acts of civil disobedience which I could not do were I in their shoes, and are, naturally, prepared to face the full criminal penalties for their acts. Hopefully a quick but thorough prosecution will follow shortly.

        •  Do you have any evidence for this assertion? (2+ / 0-)

          •  Do you have a better explanation? (0+ / 0-)

Why do you think the cops are macing deaf girls, pastors and grandmas? Or shooting vets in the head, then lobbing a flashbang at the rescuers? Are you claiming that 1)  The police are under orders to ignore their own policies and violently attack protesters, or that 2) a few 'bad apples' among the police are so overcome with rage at the site of the DFHs besmirching our bankster overlords, that they just go rogue and risk their careers in a momentary fit of 'riot-gear rage'?  Are those theories really any more reasonable than mine?  Unfortunately they may be.

some of the most egregious police behavior captured on video is by the white shirt cops, the police brass on the scene.
