I'd like to see an election rule that would allow only people who were qualified to vote for a candidate or a proposition to make contributions. Also would like to ban anonymous political speech. I know neither will happen in the current epoch, but a guy can dream.

Or would you seriously like to ban anonymous political speech such as people using pseudonyms to advocate political positions and candidates the internet?

Can a person calling himself Mr. Bojangles, writing on a site like Kos, really be advocating the banning of anonymous political speech?

Is anyone THAT obtuse? Or is he simply advocating that OTHER people, whose opinions he doesn't like, be outed in the political sphere?

C'mon people, we HAVE to be smarter and more ethical than the bozos and batshit insane idiots on the right.

        Bojangles, that was simply dumb.

Yes, I phrased it badly. The anonymity that I object to is vast anonymous contribution of money.

          Money is not speech.

I got tangled up in the current misapplication of speech in the courts and the media. I would like people who are making political commercials to be accountable for the content. I would like organizations who are influencing our policies and political structure to be transparent.

We know that now, after Citizens United, even foreign governments and extra-national corporations can make donations and purchase influence over our political landscape. We need to know who is doing that.

Granted, there are difficulties (if not impossibilities) in how to accomplish that in line with first amendment rights. But I think it needs to be addressed.

Sorry for the misstatement in a rush of fervor.

ban on anonymous political speech, which is absurd.
