  •  Palin and Twain (0+ / 0-)

Sarah Palin and Mark Twain should never be allowed to come anywhere near each other, because they are like matter and anti-matter.  Put them together and you have a massive explosion.

The difference is that only the Palin side of the equation gets annihilated.

Put Marx and Twain together, and you get synergy.  Palin is the epitome of Alaska politics, and Alaska politics takes that trend of US politics defining a criminal class to its apogee.  Okay, maybe Louisiana has them beat, but it's close.

Marx wrote about the lumpenproletariat, literally the "scum proletariat", that part of the working class that didn't do much in the way of honest work, but instead lounges around pool halls, NRA conventions and other foci of gang activity.  The lumpenproletariat is where the capitalists find that part of the working class that can be hired to shoot the workers.

Well, Alaska, and maybe Louisiana as well, has achieved a form of government not previously seen in the world, something not foreseen by Marx, and to whose thinking you have to add Twain tought in order to understand.  Alaska has achieved a dictatorship of the lumpenproletariat.  Most places prefer to have at least some fake veneer of respectability to their politcal culture, but not Alaska.  Sarah Palin definitely has to be considered a vanguard element in the dictatorship of the lumpenproletariat.

It's only a matter of time before someone puts out the Che-style ripoff teashirt.  Only this time there won't be any ideals in the original to cheapen with commercialization.

We should have destroyed the presidency before Obama took office. Too late now.

if he knew Palin.  And Twain may have been an atheist.  If anyone has ever embodied the self-important fools that Twain loved to lampoon, it is Caribou Barbie.

The existence of a Palin makes it look too easy.  I call it the Onion Effect, the diminishment of any possible achievement in the field of satire by the thorough-going self-satire on display in the "real" world.  Taking on a Palin makes it look like shooting fish in a barrel, or maybe moose from a helicopter with an assault rifle.
