I was so taken by the Mayor's quote at MidlandsConnect.com that I didn't realize that I was duplicating a blockquote in the diary. ;-)

I think I'll update to include that first sentence too!

So ... to add some real content to this great diary, here's another tidbit about where Haley's marching orders came from:

Earlier in the day, Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler sent a letter to Haley, dated November 16, asking what the Budget and Control Board plans to do about the Occupy group before the Governor's Carolighting ceremony on November 28.  The State House grounds are under the purview of the board.

Apparently the good people of Columbia were worried that the OWS protestors might mar the Carolighting ceremony.

And Rep. Rick Quinn sent this letter to Governor Haley:

I also share Senator Peeler's concern about the Carol Lighting Ceremony. In addition, we should also be concerned about the South Carolina's Presidential Primary. As the time for our primary approaches, we can expect some of the more extreme protestors from around the country to target our state in an attempt to attract national media attention. It is therefore important for us to establish the rules of conduct now, before those concerns become more difficult to address. In my judgement, time is of the essence.

Looks like this may not be over just yet ...
