Irrespective of whether one likes Chait, he does provide some factual information about how liberals related to Dem Presidents.  One might not think this is important, but it is basically actual fact.  How did we relate to generally factual information?

    1)  There's always someone who already knows an author (Chait, in this case) who feels therefore empowered to write off that author's point.  Judgement by author.
    2)  Progressives are no more self-reflective than others.  I found this disappointing.  I consider one's ability to self-reflect to be critical to self-learning and seeing beyond one's habitual limitations, and expected at least some DKers to "hear" the article, without needing to defend/attack.  Didn't happen.
    3)  Denial can take many forms.  Most popular here is taking an aggressive or contemtuous position towards the messenger.
    4) Most commenters were perfectly comfortable spouting on about an article that they had not read.

This seems to be how we are.  Humans, in a debate.  We don't listen much, spout our same-old opinions, attack anything that disagrees, and do not allow the "new" information to affect their previous point-of-view or self-concept.

    Enough for now.  Interesting.
