I'm on a years long quest to visit, and get the passport stamp from, every National Park Service site. I've got them from Cape Cod to San Diego, and from the shores of Lake Superior to New Orleans.

I have the one from the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site.

Upon visiting the site on a very windy day, I was alarmed, appalled, and nauseated to learn that the name of the nearest town was Chivington, Colorado. Why name a town after a war criminal, and then leave the name there decades after everyone has come to understand that he was a war criminal?

Mercifully, the town isn't flourishing. A couple of old buildings, a few abandoned buildings, and it doesn't even have it's own post office. Karma, I think.
