  •  While we're on the topic of logical fallacies, (0+ / 0-)

why did you feel a need to make up that nonsense?

    I never said that Gore=Bush.
I said that we don't know if a Gore presidency would have been better than a Bush presidency.

It may just be your limited cognitive skills, but seriously, we don't live in a binary world.  There are lots of ways for things to go wrong and for things to go right.

    •  Well, I don't know what you define as "better" (0+ / 0-)

But if you have any pretense whatsoever of being left-wing and you're questioning whether there's any possibility Gore could have been as bad as Bush, don't question anyone else's "cognitive skills."

      •  Oops -- i see the problem. (0+ / 0-)

I make no pretense of being left-wing.  I'm one of the unaffiliated minority around here, and am conservative in my views.

However, it makes perfectly good sense to question the cognitive skills of somebody who can't imagine that Gore would be as bad as Bush.
His NAFTA defense alone makes that possibility a real one.

it's perfectly understandable for you to question that Gore would have been better than Bush. Otherwise, that questioning makes no sense. It's of course true that there's no way to tell PRECISELY what Gore would have done, given a series of unpredictable events that might have occurred while he was president. But to say that there's no way to know that there would have been hugely substantive ways in which he would have been different - and for a left-winger, or someone concerned with, for example, the environment, global warming, decent relations with other countries, and judicial appointments way better - is just inane.
