I know kos has already said it's embarrassing that anyone would rec such crap, but still...

As the expression goes, lie down with dogs, get up with fleas. Isn't it interesting, though, what kind of fleas people are willing to tolerate here?

Do you suppose Republican politicians hate people who work for a living because they've never done it themselves?

hysteria here (which was tacitly approved of by at least two FP writers), this has been easily the lowest that the FP has been in terms of editorial decisions.

      •  I tell you, there are days... (6+ / 0-)

...when I think about GBCW-ing over bullshit like this, and some of the other haphazard, capricious nonsense. For instance, I feel the need to clarify that by saying "I think about GBCW-ing over bullshit like this," I explicitly do not mean that I'm GBCW-ing -- one admin has said that people who announced they were participating in the boycott in mid-September and would be back in a week were actually GBCW-ing, and explicitly told one of my friends that his announcement that he was participating in the boycott was the reason he was banned. Never mind that even one of the front pagers said she was boycotting, and did in fact boycott, as did dozens if not hundreds of others who weren't banned.

kos, if you're still paying attention to this brouhaha, your staff fucked up. They usually do a pretty decent job, but they fucked up this time. And they (and you) set the tone for this place, and the tone has been getting progressively more inane and insane because shit like this is not only tolerated but extolled.

        •  Joan's screw up isn't so much the diary (0+ / 0-)

But her apparent refusal to delete it or apologize for it.

          •  No, it's both (6+ / 0-)

The diary was fucked up to begin with. There's no responsible way to say these assholes are doing something good, and it seems that plenty of folks even here can't grasp why it might not be a good idea to pat the backs of a bunch of bigots, antisemites, and 9/11 conspiracy theorists just because they, like we, don't like Bush and Blair.

Her apparent refusal to even acknowledge that she fucked up is fuck up #2.

Now, to be fair, I am absolutely certain that Joan is not a homophobe, an antisemite, or a 9/11 conspiracy theorist. But it's still pretty fucked up to look past things like that just because these assholes, like us, also don't like Bush and Blair. I feel like a broken record at this point, but again, there are responsible and credible people making the case for indicting Bush and Blair on war crimes charges. If you want to talk about their efforts, go for it. But this? Simple indefensible.

            •  please don't assume everyone knows or (0+ / 0-)

Knew the background of these people or organizations. When i read you comment, right from the first sentence I thought, why is wiseacre assuming people just KNOW this? I didn't. Not before this diary. Maybe if I'd read the comment on the others I'd have learned then. But the story didn't interest me.

Nevertheless, if you say "people don't seem to understand why it's a bad idea to...bigots and antisemites..." and that it's "indefensible", you assume that people knew. But I think many didn't. And now we do. Sometimes people are just not being antagonistic or hateful or callous or whatever. There's tons of people who are not informed.

I've become re-radicalized. Thanks a lot you bunch of oligarchical fascist sons-of-bitches. But once again, I have no choice. Bring it the fuck on.

....and in this case it would have taken about twenty seconds.

                •  People tend NOT to check sources when a story (0+ / 0-)

fits too well into something they already believe. Why go to the trouble, when they "know" what the truth is?

This is a problem that is not found only among the wingnut fringe, unfortunately.

                  If it's
                  Not your body
                  Then it's
                  Not your choice
                  AND it's
                  None of your damn business!
