of major media outlets will absolutely end our ability to share information, and effect change.

It's true we didn't have the internet during the 60's,however the news media was reporting more real news, there were also some good journalists. The mainstream media weren't quite the useless shills they are today.

It is only recently I discovered how valuable an asset this is for getting the real story.

That this is even being considered scares the shit out of me. My blood runs cold when I think of how close we are to having this become a reality.

It needs to be made amply clear to the Ownership, that the inevitable and inescapable outcome of suppressing nonviolent dissent, is violent civil unrest.

The Ownership CANnot have it all, they WILL not have it all, and the ONLY question is whether they get to keep SOME of what they have or whether they end up losing everything including their heads on the guillotine.

Whether or not the streets run with rivers of blood is basically up to them.  And if they opt for that, the result will eventually be that the streets run with their own blood.

This isn't a "call for" guillotines or rivers of blood, this is the inescapable conclusion based on history.  The single largest predictor of violent social unrest is income inequality: and that translates to, you can't back an animal into a corner or it will growl, snarl, charge, and bite.

So if they want to avoid THAT, for the sake of THEIR OWN survival in the most literal sense, they'd damn better not try to rig next year's elections, take away our grassroots media, and all the rest of it, because if they do those things, they are lighting a fuse on an enormous powder keg.

WE can only keep the peace with the members of our own movement.  If the Ownership tries to slaughter us despite our best efforts to keep the peace, things will spiral out of our control, and the Ownership will reap the whirlwind.

"Minus one vote for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.

which is much slower than the internet.

I've always thought of the internet as our rapid and infinitely more versatile/powerful form of samizdat. I'd hate to see us go backward.

But they cannot silence ideas. They cannot silence the frustration. The cannot re-close eyes that are open. Even if they take the net away.

Meanwhile, we focus on not letting them take the net away in the first place.
