  •  A Corrolary to Goehring's "Big Lie" theory that (7+ / 0-)

can now be state is that when people finally are forced to face the truth, not only the lie falls but, generally, the regime that foisted the lie on the public falls as well. This was the insight Gorbachev wrote about in his first book, where he wrote about the need for "glasnost", because he realized the big lie of Soviet Statism was failing in the face of harsh realities.

I don't know if we're there yet, though OWS is promising, but at some point enough Americans will be suffering from the anemia of the system that the public will awake and revolt. With fully one third of us having been force under or near the poverty line, and about a sixth on public assistance just to survive, we are getting close.

The problem, of course, is that the host in this case is not just our country, but a world order; and when world orders die, they die violently, the most recent examples being WWI / WWII, the Napoleonic Wars, the Reformation era, the collapse of Rome. Each was violent and destructive.

I don't wish for violence, but I am not sure, given where we are in the process, that either war or revolution can be avoided. In fact, as others have said, OWS may be the birthing of a revolution here. And the collapse of European unity is sure to bring war.

I think the GOP and the Democratic party will both be victims of the storm that is building. And we have no idea of the shape of what is to come. Let us hope it preserves freedom.
