I once received a pre-nasty-lawyer-letter-letter from a guy who claimed to have trademarked the word "helper" and objected to my using it in the name of an early piece of Mac shareware called "Painter's Helper". I wondered if he had sent a letter to the "Hamburger Helper" folks, but never got around to asking.

The funny thing was that his product, "B-Tree Helper" had nothing to do with graphics so the chance of confusion between the two products was minimal. However, his company was named "Magreeable Software" and mine was "Reas'nable Software" and he never objected to that seeming similarity.

His name was Magree; I always thought it sounded a good deal like Legree, as in Simon Legree.

    Moderation in most things.
