  •  This is what kills me a out CT accusations (29+ / 0-)

Because they are made as frivilously as hypothesis of collusion are. And if you want to call them that, they come in all different levels of "density."

I used to think that the level of coordination required to support a true, top down effort to repress and marginalize was next to impossible for human beings at the level discussed here, but not anymore. All it really requires is a shared philosophy and a common approach based on it, and groupthink is not a rare phenomenon.

You see at these levels an effort to encapsulate to solve big problems. Place the problem within a simpler construct in order to address it on increasingly larger scales. I'm convinced it's a human predisposition. I do it every day as a software developer to solve architectural problems, using design patterns. The problem is that after you wrap the more granular issues, unless you address the underlying problems they will persist and become worse. The wrappers mask the systemic issues that eventually cause failure.

This is just one macro analogy, and doesn't come close to even scratching the surface, but it at least partially illustrates how a group might collude by simply pursuing the same orthodoxy using the same patterns. And, on top of that, some of these people are genuinely evil at worst, power mad at best.

then an instigator becomes as unnecessary as a Creator to evolution.

Necessity is the Mother of Invention.  That evolutionary (:)) thinking has begun to invent new ways of communicating in the face of obstacles - application of these new inventions (see The People's Mic), is of an absolute necessity.

Human Necessity now demands OWS on a more general scale.  When scales become too heavy on one side, they no longer measure anything at all.  Balance is coming, like it or not.  America was fooled by some of it's wealthiest citizens into accepting loss as their fate, and gain by those that told the lies.
There is an end point for wealth.  We talk much of the 'creation' of wealth, and 'job creators'.  There's only so much gold or money to be had.  When they have all of it, what will they do with it?

(as you probably suspected I would), and have been waiting all day for someone to reply to one of these comments.
Dealing with a systematic problem, one not vested within a single figurehead or tightly defined group requires a different tools than is usual in revolutionary change, and imho OWS may well be part of that toolset, especially given that we seem to be giving up all of the components/actions that have kept the beast in check (such as G-S). The current path, as espoused by most authorities (austerity, etc) shows every sign of continuing the conversion of what should be a simple medium of exchange into some sort of strange combination of a surgical drain and a vacuum pump with no off switch.

presuming on the intent of your name, but we need evolution, not revolution.

the reason behind my screen name.  No one ever asked, no one ever guessed out loud.

You are absolutely correct!!  OWS is like nothing before it.  This is a new kind of tool.  A new kind of 'revolution'.  One that hasn't yet been used or tried before.  It has similarities to other movements that have both succeeded, and failed - but it is different.  I am an Evolutionary in the sense that I see the world evolving around me, especially now in my own country.  I am a member of the group of humans that sees this social evolution, and I want to be part of whatever comes of it.
I don't want to be a part of the crusty old, glued-into-place 20th Century thinking.  I want to be a part of a newer, happier 21'st Century, but I see that it will, of necessity, be the child of horrible and dark events.  As it becomes more painful, there will be more in the streets.  Change is coming.  Evolution is in progress, not just a historical theory.  It hasn't stopped.

    •  CT accusations are used to discredit (19+ / 0-)

any observations of coordination around power accumulation processes. Clearly people in positions of power in multinational corporations and banking have a responsibility to maximize the effectiveness of wealth accumulation for the institutions they are formally leading. They obviously get together and plan how best to accomplish that objective. Threats to their system of wealth accumulation will motivate them to plan and then execute plans intended to eliminate those threats. Developing a business plan and executing on it is what business does whether it is on the small scale of a local business or these huge multinational corporations. That corporations would systematically plan to use government to achieve their objectives isn't news, its common practice.

The system is collapsing and they are trying to hold it together. You are right about the simple containers not being up to the job of managing the complexity of our social and environmental system. There is a coordinated effort to preserve things as they have been and it is the big players who are working it. The secrecy is part of it.

mentally healthy. If one visits with one a Corporate CEO, one is quite likely to find them hospitable, friendly, even sympathetic to the general concerns of humanity. But, inside the socially acceptable psychopathic roles that perform to run successful, psychopathic institutions (corporations), they do their part in performing the actions of a psychopath.

        - Shit Happens.  It happens whether we like it, dislike it, or have no opinion about it.  Conservative thinking doesn't allow for any sort of change to the status-quo.  Their biggest problem, is that they attempted to (and have largely been successful) change the status-quo in their favor on a larger scale.

        We noticed.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.  Resistance causes friction or heat, and will, in time, become an out-of-control raging fire that consumes all in its path, restoring balance - however much damage needs to be done to make it so.  Let's hope the balance in the end is kinder than the Mad Max version of things.
The elite would do themselves a better deal in the end to just deal with us now, in human terms.  If they go the other way (the current trajectory), they will be much worse off.  They are smart enough to steal all that money and power, but they don't have a way out at the end of the tunnel.  There is no place they can really hide.  No place.
