    I see this as wrong target ... in terms of "education".  

    We, as a society, lose sight of how much more complicated school systems are / education is than even a few decades ago:

    *  Dealing with technology and similar advances (computer budgets 40 years ago vs today?)

    *  Various 'mandate' challenges, such as ADA and otherwise

    * Related: better knowledge / understanding of various learning disabilities / challenges

    * Gifted & Talented / AP / Honors / Etc ...

    And, so on ...

    We have a larger "administrative" overhead in the school / education arena because its complexity increases over time.

    And, well, I would suggest that there are relatively few administrators who merit the 'greedy educators' mold.  How much is a principal paid, for example, compared to someone running some private enterprise of similar size / complexity.
