The Illinois GOP is embarrassed by this goof.  If he runs and manages to win the primary with the help of social conservatives capable of overlooking his abandonment of his children, then the seat will flip Democratic.

Not since Allan Keyes ran for senate has the GOP had such a pitiful loser seriously contemplating a run.

I pity the folks down in Texas because an idiot like Louis Gohmert actually can win in his district, reliably, year after year.  Exurban Chicago has not decayed to that extent, at least not yet.

    •  You misspelled "exurbs are recovering" (0+ / 0-)

DuPage county was once one of the 10 most Republican counties in the US.  No longer.

76% for Reagan in 1984, 55% for Obama in 2008.

    •  Tim Johnson is pulling a similar stunt downstate (0+ / 0-)

Tim Johnson is trying a similar suicide run in the redrawn IL-13, a battleground district, instead of mounting a primary challenge against John Shimkus in the redrawn IL-15, a GOP vote-sink, although Johnson stands a far better chance of getting re-elected in the new IL-13 than Joe Walsh does in the new IL-8.
